I listened to this book Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking written by Susan Cain. In chapter 10, she introduces the concept of self-monitoring. Below are some of my findings about self-monitoring from the Internet.
Low self monitors tend to use inner beliefs and values in deciding how to behave, while high self monitors tend to monitor their surroundings and change their behavior to fit in.
High self-monitors adjust their behavior in response to their environment, while low self-monitors tend to rely on the same behaviors in all contexts.
Test to measure self-monitors, A score of 0-8 on Snyder’s scale indicates low self-monitoring, while a score of 13-25 indicates high self-monitoring.
